James Cahill continued his quest to return to the World Snooker Tour with a 4-1 win over Spaniard Juan Pedro Duran at Q School Event Two in Leicester.
Q School runs until June 1st, with a total of eight tour cards up for grabs over the two events. Watch the action live and free on WST Play or YouTube - for details click here.
The Englishman is no stranger to the big stage, having beaten the likes of Mark Selby and Ding Junhui at the UK Championship. His biggest triumph came at the 2019 World Championship when he defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan as an amateur.
However, inconsistencies away from the TV stages have plagued Cahill's career and he most recently dropped off the circuit at the 2024 World Championship, after a 10-0 defeat at the hands of Zhou Yuelong.
The 29-year-old lost out to Alexander Ursenbacher, who went on to qualify in event one, so this is his last chance to be on tour next season. Cahill top scored with 51 this afternoon and will now face fellow former professional Peter Devlin, who whitewashed Nathan Jones 4-0.
Welshman Andrew Pagett scored a 4-1 win over talented young compatriot Riley Powell, while Phil O'Kane beat former English Under-18 champion Daniel Boyes 4-2.
