Switzerland's Alexander Ursenbacher moved one win away from another immediate return to the World Snooker Tour, beating Ashley Hugill 4-1 in the last 16 of Q School in Leicester.
Ursenbacher is a former English Open semi-finalist, but dropped off the circuit at the end of last season. Breaks of 51, 50 and 99 saw him ease past Hugill this evening, having won 4-3 over David Grace earlier in the day.
He now faces Ryan Davies, who made the last 16 of the Shoot Out in 2019, for a two-year tour card. Davies beat Daniel Womersley 4-3.
English 19-year-old Liam Pullen continued to bounce back from his tour exit last season with a 4-2 win over Alfie Davies. He now plays Germany's Umut Dikme, who won 4-3 over Zachary Richardson.
Poland's Mateusz Baranowski won 4-3 against Phil O'Kane, he now faces Patrick Whelan for a berth on the World Snooker Tour. Whelan won 4-0 against George Pragnall.
Craig Steadman top scored with 78 to beat Stuart Carrngton 4-3. He now plays Oliver Brown in the final round. Brown won 4-1 against Halim Hussain.
