Home favourite Chatchapong Nasa and three Chinese players are through to the semi-finals of Asia-Oceania Q School Event 1 in Thailand, with two World Snooker Tour cards up for grabs on Sunday. All four are aiming to earn a place on the pro circuit for the first time.
Liu Linhao was in dominant form on Saturday as a 4-2 win over Cambodia’s Chhay Suon in the last 16 was followed by a commanding 4-0 whitewash of Xing Zihao in the quarter-finals. His next opponent will be Nasa, who beat Feng Yu 4-1 and Zhao Hanyang 4-2. Victory on Sunday would make Nasa the fourth Thai player to qualify for the professional circuit through the Q School held in Thailand since 2022.
Reigning Asia-Pacific Under-21 Champion Nattanapong Chaikul produced a spirited comeback from 3-1 down in his quarter-final against Liu Wenwei, compiling breaks of 61 and 62 to force a deciding frame. However, it was Liu who prevailed 4-3 to reach the semi-finals. His route to this stage has included wins over former professionals Tian Pengfei and Manasawin Phetmalaikul.
In the final quarter-final match, former pro Peng Yisong lost 4-2 to Luo Zetao. Luo will now face Liu in the other semi-final.
