To give snooker fans a taste of what's on offer in WST PLAY's extensive archive catalogues, we are offering up a classic match each Thursday for FREE!

Our third edition sees one of the most significant World Championship finals in snooker history take place, with John Higgins and Ronnie O'Sullivan crossing cues in 2001, their only Crucible final to date.

The two players have formed what is widely regarded as one of snooker's greatest ever rivalries, having both stepped into the professional ranks in 1992. To this day they have met over 70 times, with O'Sullivan leading the head-to-head 39-33.

Heading into this title match, it was Higgins who had the upper hand in the World Championship. He'd already appeared in the 1998 final against Ken Doherty, prevailing 18-12 to capture snooker's grandest prize. Meanwhile O'Sullivan was yet to make it to the title match at the Crucible. Could he finally take the extra step and become Champion of the World?

Fast forward 24 years and Higgins has four world titles to O'Sullivan's seven. However, who was it that prospered on this momentous day?

Sit back, relax, watch over eight hours of action and relive the match in full for free. All you have to do is register for a WST Login by clicking here. After you have done this the video will appear below on this page.
