Ford is yet to win a match in Sheffield, but this year marks his first seeded Crucible appearance. He thrashed Judd Trump 10-3 in the final round of 2010 qualifying to make his debut, but bowed out to Mark Allen. In 2014, Trump had his revenge when he scored a narrow 10-8 win over Ford in the opening round. There were further first round defeats in 2017 and 2020 to Barry Hawkins and Trump respectively.

Ford has enjoyed a strong season to earn his place in the world’s top 16. The Leicester cueman has made three quarter-final appearances at the British Open, Wuhan Open and the Scottish Open. However, the highlight of his campaign came in Tianjin at the International Championship. Ford beat the likes of Mark Selby and Barry Hawkins en route to his third ranking event final, but was runner-up to Zhang Anda.
Pre Tournament Form

Ford is yet to capture silverware on tour, but is one of the most prolific 147 makers in the professional game. Only seven players have made more than him in the history of snooker. His fifth and most recent maximum came at the 2019 English Open.
He is a two-time UK Championship semi-finalist and made the final of the German Masters last season. However, his run to the 2023 International Championship final, which earned him a career high payday, must go down as his greatest achievement thus far.
